ABOUT THE CAMP

Across the globe, many companies are struggling to fill Information and Communication Technology (IT/ICT) positions that require coding or programming skills and an understanding of computer hardware. Whether the company is a new tech start-up, a thriving financial institution, a public sector arm, or a blue-chip manufacturer, chances are good that they have lots of ICT positions to fill but are finding it challenging to source skilled students from the local pool of resources. On the other hand, to develop computer coding skills is a challenge for many countries around the world. While many high schools have started implementing computer literacy courses as part of their curriculum, there is still a lot that can be done to pique students’ interest in coding and give them the effective tools and resources they need to develop these STEM skills to ensure a brighter future for themselves and the nation.

Xavier Coding and Circuit Camp will be held by Xavier University's School of Computer Science & Engineering. This camp is open and free to all 10+2 level students selected from institutions in and around Odisha. They will learn how to write Javascript and HTML code for stunning web pages, code game programs with Scratch (MIT-developed), and to build circuits using simulation and real hardware. There will be a quiz bowl and prizes too! Coding and hardware knowledge build critical thinking skills, important for success in almost all job sectors impacted by Computer and Communication Technology. If school students get interested in technologies like computer coding and cybersecurity early on, they would easily have an understanding of advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain, the Internet of Things, neuromorphic nano computing, and Technology-management, which are so crucial to the modern world. However, We have a space limit of about 200 students, so act fast and signup! Each institution gets to select a limited number of students to represent them. Once we have received a student’s intent to join with their principal/teacher recommendation, we will short-list and send you an intimation of registration acceptance.
